On Wednesday, November 13th, the Food Service Technology Center opened its doors to all of Pacific Gas & Electric Company for a tour of its facility. The open house featured
discussions of the FSTC's energy efficiency efforts in foodservice ranging from appliance testing protocol, test method development, HVAC and ventilation testing, as well as
the FSTC's varied work in the field.
About 150 guests feasted on french fries while learning about the wide disparity in energy efficiency and cooking performance between seemingly similar deep fryers. Soft serve
ice cream with toppings was provided alongside a discussion of how the FSTC goes about devising a test method for soft serve machines.
This year's open house was a rousing success and the FSTC looks forward to more events showcasing our unique operation and our expansive knowledge. Be energy wise!
