Restaurant Refresh makes it easy for SoCalGas® customers to identify ways to reduce operating costs and improve facility performance. Participants receive no-cost, customized efficiency guidance, energy- and water-saving upgrades, rebate application support, and financing options to help optimize your facility.

Savings are achieved in three easy steps:
  1. Assess: Receive a no-cost, comprehensive energy and water assessment of your restaurant to identify ways to reduce utility costs.

  2. Upgrade: Purchase three (3) or more qualifying energy-efficient appliances or building upgrades.

  3. Save: Restaurant Refresh provides enhanced equipment rebates and added financial incentives, while facility upgrades help you reduce operating costs.
Rebates & Incentives
To help lower the cost of equipment and achieve greater savings, Restaurant Refresh offers rebates that are higher than standard rebates for select upgrades including, but not limited to:

In addition, program participants receive a Performance Incentive of $1.50 per normalized therm savings over a one year period (capped at 50% of the total cost of upgrades).

To receive higher gas rebates and the performance incentive, participants must complete a minimum of three (3) upgrades, at least two of which must be gas equipment.
Support for Electric & Water Rebates
Restaurant Refresh offers support on electric and water rebate applications. Eligible items include, but are not limited to:
  • Electric: Lighting, refrigerator/freezer auto-closers, demand-controlled ventilation, etc.

  • Water: Air-cooled ice machines, connectionless steamers, toilets, and urinals.
For large water-saving projects, participants can receive up to $1.75 per 1,000 gallons saved (amounts vary; offered through partner water agencies).
  • Savings: A typical Restaurant Refresh is projected to save 10-15% on energy usage, which can result in significant utility bill savings.* These savings will be presented in a report alongside specific recommendations for your facility.

  • Assistance: Our dedicated team will assist you from start-to-finish so you can focus on your business.

  • Resources: You will be connected to financial incentives beyond Restaurant Refresh and will receive a toolkit with energy-saving devices and resources to market your energy-smart choices to customers.
*Actual savings may vary. Savings are based on program projections and will depend on various factors including geographic location, weather conditions, equipment installed, usage rates, etc.
Eligibility Requirements
  • To receive a no-cost Restaurant Refresh energy and water assessment, the facility must be:

    • A restaurant (including quick-service and restaurants within wineries & breweries)
    • A verifiable commercial SoCalGas® customer
    • A customer of SoCal Edison or LADWP and a customer of a MWD-member water agency
    • In operation for two or more years
    • A standalone building with no shared walls or roof (chain restaurants exempted)

  • To receive Restaurant Refresh rebates and performance incentives, participants must complete a no-cost assessment prior to installing qualifying equipment, provide energy- and water-usage data, and complete all program requirements.
